Tyre White, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff- c/o 2022, Broadcast Journalism

Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*
I’m from fort worth texas. I can’t say a specific person introduced me to HBCUs, I was introduced to them by the movie Drumline,Which also made me pick up a Trombone and audition for UAPBS M4.

On my First look at the campus!
Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
I chose an HBCU over a pwi primarily because as a young black man I feel it is Pivotal to the black community that we attend colleges and universities that nourish our culture and celebrate it instead of diluting it.
The style of band also played an important role, When I think HBCU the first thing that comes to mind is the marching band.

Fear the golden lions
What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*
I haven’t had much experience at my HBCU other than the campus tour i went on, But from what i did see and feel it is a family atmosphere where everyone wants to help those who aren’t as knowledgeable about the university as they are.
I really felt “a part of the pride” as i walked the campus.
