1

Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*

I don't have a set place to say where I'm from because I'm a military brat.

I've lived from California to Mississippi, Virginia, Germany, & etc.
I was introduced to HBCUs through movies and tv shows like A Different World and Stomp The Yard.

2

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*

I feel like this question doesn't pertain to me because when I first saw Alabama State's campus I fell in love with it. It wasn't until I actually started college that I knew what a PWI was.

It's funny to me because I was also accepted into UAB and I almost went there to pursue nursing.

What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*

My experience taught me so many life lessons.

That was the first time that I was really out by myself with my parents just a phone call away.

My freshman year I had so much freedom and I wasn't used to it, so during that time I made a lot of mistakes.

With the continuing years I improved and became a social butterfly. The first thing I joined was "SGA Street Team". I was also a part of an events committee twice and I also became a member of the Epsilon Lambda chapter of Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority, Incorporated. Even though I wished some things didn't happen, I wouldn't trade my experience for anything.

4

"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*

A first time experience for me was eating fried chicken and mac&cheese EVERY Wednesday.
Going to house parties.
Going to Halloween parties.
Of course going to Alabama State is where I saw my first probate. It was the Alpha probate Spring 2013.
I had a lot of first time experiences because my parents were really strict and I barely went anywhere.

5

Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*

Dr. Bayan really taught me how to be confident when I'm doing my presentations. She taught me how to project my voice.

Mrs. Morris was my math teacher for two of my math classes and she was like my mom away from home. She checked on me, talked to me like I was her daughter, and stayed on me about her math work. I will forever appreciate her.

6

Are you a member of a sorority?

Yes. I am a member of the Epsilon Lambda chapter of Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority, Incorporated at Alabama State University. I was the Corresponding Secretary 2016-2017, Secretary Spring 2017 and I was also Miss Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority, Incorporated 2016-2017.
