I am from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I was introduced to HBCUs from an early age by my middle school as well as my high school!

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
I chose an HBCU because most of my mentors growing up attended HBCUs and and the choice was very clear when it came down to making a decision.
Family Legacy - Feel free to elaborate… My mentor who is like my father figure attended the same school so I felt that it was only right.
What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*
The story behind my experience is absolutely the best. I would choose to attend an HBCU over and over again if I was given the choice.

"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*
I had my car towed for the first time outside of a club, it was like two in the morning and I had to call my parents to get money to get the car back.
I got my first speeding ticket. I got my first on the phone break up with my long distance beau, i cried for weeks and did not talk to my roommates for days. I got my first apartment my sophomore year. I got my first D and I think I cried for like a week.
Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*
Man, where do I start!? I have plenty of professors who left lasting impressions on me but two of them stood out the most.
Dr. Robinson was my Anatomy and pathophysiology professor and he was a great science teacher and I would strongly recommend him.
Ms. Thompson is one of the teachers in nursing program and she is one that goes above and beyond to make sure that her students are successful and that alone makes me want to strive for greatness.
Best restaurants on/near campus? Best dishes?
Anyone who has been to BCU knows about Bethune grills! I always get the 6 piece wings and fries.
What is your major? and Why did you choose it?
My major is nursing. I chose this major because of the endless possibility and the amount of caring that going into being a true nurse. I love to serve and I enjoy helping every chance thy I get, being a nurse would help me be a better person.
How are you positively active on campus? (e.g. clubs, SGA, etc.)
I am a student athletic trainer and that takes up all my time during the peak of sports seasons. I was a wildcat write mentor for two years, and I am an inactive peer counselor member.
Where is the “yard” located?
Our “yard” is actually called the “quad” and it is located in the middle of campus, you can’t miss it, it is right before you get to the cafeteria !
What and where are the historical places on campus?
We have several! Our campus itself is very historical. We have the white hall which was probably one of the original buildings on campus and then our founder Mary McLeod Bethune house which is located just east of the quad!!
If you could only speak two sentences to the youth coming after you what would you say?
Always be smart and make sound decisions.
Don’t follow the crowd, be your own person, be a leader not a follower.
