Roger Locklear, North Carolina Central University- c/o 2012, Law

Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*
I am from North Carolina. I found NCCU on my own while researching laws schools during my undergraduate studies.

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
I went to a PWI for undergrad and wanted a more diverse experience for law school. I wanted to go to NCCU because of the law school’s legacy and dedication to civil rights and equality.
What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*
My experience was phenomenal. I was exposed to so much during my tenure. NCCU Law ignited a fire in me to fight oppression and expose social injustices.
My dedication to civil rights only intensified upon finishing my studies. NCCU Law prepared me well for my career.

"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*
Attending my first step show.
Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*
Professor Hauser who was one of my first year instructors.
She was very dedicated to helping us all succeed, always having a true open door policy. She became my mentor post law school and I still seek her advice from time to time.
