Pamela Knight, Spelman College- c/o 2003, Foreign Languages

Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*
I’m originally from St. Louis, Missouri.
A close family friend introduced me to Spelman College. She was in medical school at the time and I was around 8 or 9 years old.
I remember her always talking about her love for Spelman and what a great experience she had while she was there.

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
I chose an HBCU because my middle school and high school experience were at all white private schools and I wanted to experience what it was like to be amongst people like me.
What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*
I’ve seen so many incredible women graduate from Spelman to go on and do amazing things. We have a long history of prestigious alumni.
"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*
Walking on to Spelman’s campus and feeling a genuine sisterhood.

Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*
