2

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*

What made my decision so easy to pick between the two was Marching Band.

3

What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*

Being a part of the Marching 101 made my HBCU experience WONDERFUL!

It’s just being a part of the band! Performing in pep rally’s and football games getting the crowd hype and excited for the team! Don’t get me started on Homecoming. Everyone comes back to see how the school is looking, telling their stories and giving great advice.

4

"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*

First Time experience would have to be getting groceries for myself. I’ve done it before but buying groceries in college hit differently.

I have to budget, think about the space in my dorm and the space in my rides car.

5

Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*

Dr. Ried, my trumpet professor. He taught more then just playing a trumpet.

He wanted to make sure I enjoyed my college experience along with getting enough rest because he knew how tiresome band could be when we're working hard.

6

What is your major? and Why did you choose it?

Physical Education.

I chose this major because I like sports and physical fitness. With this major I can do so much in the department. I can teach, broadcast, train, etc.

7

Where is the “yard” located?

Like most the center of campus. It’s right around our student center and our plaza, which is where most of student activities are located.

8

What is your process when you are going through a hardship that you have never faced before?

Time Management is everything. Practice that as much as you can.

9

Rules for incoming freshmen band members? Did they have a nickname?

Some rules are different at different schools...but I can give some advice to prepare for it drink water, exercise and stretch. And remain humble.
