1

Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*

Tampa, FL. I actually saw FAMU on the college list for schools and was told not to come to FAMU but something spoke to me to come and it was the best decision I ever made.

"...when I came to FAMU I felt at home."
"...when I came to FAMU I felt at home."
2

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*

I had been to many orientations and campus visits. But when I came to FAMU I felt at home.

I felt accepted and everyone was so nice and informative. I didn't have that feeling on any other campus I had visited.

"Florida A & M made me a courageous, educated, and confident woman."

3

What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*

Florida A & M made me a courageous, educated, and confident woman. Through my time in school I have been afforded so many opportunities of corporate interactions, internships, and life long memories that I will never forget.

An HBCU experience is like none other because you get to unravel your whole self and strip yourself down of insecurities and self doubt because everyone is rooting for you - teachers, faculty, and your friends. I was able to learn more about myself and my people and the true definition of black excellence.

4

"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*

Convocation
The set
Student government
Campus trips

5

Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*

Professor Rosier, Dr. Ashley, Dr. Williams, Professor Kinchlow, Professor White, Professor McFarlane and Professor Houston Turner.

None of my teachers ever let me get comfortable or allowed me to work in my comfort space, I was constantly reminded to push myself and to be the best version of myself.

Through milestones of work and deadlines I was never thrown pity but confidence that I could do it. We need that in the black community, sometimes all you need is to be told you can be something for greatness to happen.
