Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*
I am from Chicago, IL, and I was introduced to HBCUs by my high school counselor.

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
My grandparents trusted the coaches to care for me as an athlete.
What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*
Cheyney University of Pennsylvania helped me grow as a person. I learned how to balance and excel as a full school load, volleyball player, and Air Force Reservist.
"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*
I had never visited the East Coast so the rolling hills were a challenge and the New England students were different. I found my voice.
Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*
Professors Livsey and Bagley were women who demanded greatness from me. If I turned in less than stellar work, they wouldn't accept it.

What sports do/did you play at your HBCU? What positions?
Volleyball outside hitter
What to date has been your proudest moment @ Your HBCU?
Graduation
What to date has been your happiest moment @ Your HBCU?
When I realized I completed my degree a semester early, I was elated.
How are you positively active on campus? (e.g. clubs, SGA, etc.)
I wrote for the school newspaper and worked with student government
What situation in your life made you feel like you had arrived into woman/manhood?
The day I made enough money to send home to my cancer stricken mother.
What elders do you look to for guidance?
My grandparents were my guiding posts.

- Athletics: Basketball, Football, Cross Country, Track and Field, Bowling, Tennis, Volleyball, and Cheerleading. Cheyney University has one of the most storied basketball programs in NCAA Division II history. The men's basketball program is 7th all-time in NCAA win percentage, including 16 PSAC conference championships, four Final Fours, and one National Championship (1978). The women's basketball team in 1982 competed in the championship game of the inaugural NCAA Division I tournament despite being a Division II school.
