1

Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*

I am from Central New Jersey and I was introduced to HBCU’s through an HBCU college fair my sophomore year of high school.

2

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*

I wanted to have the HBCU experience at an institution that was created for people like me to thrive in and to be surrounded by other like-minded and successful young black students. I wouldn’t get that at a PWI.

3

What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*

I attend Virginia State University and I love my orange and blue since 1882. My school was awarded 2018 HBCU of the year by HBCU Digest.

We receive countless awards all throughout the school year and good news just keeps rolling in for my institution. My school is the absolute perfect fit for me. From the moment I arrived on campus, it felt like home. I wasted no time getting involved and I am glad that I picked my HBCU.

4

"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*

My first HBCU Homecoming was an amazing experience that I will never forget. Seeing all the alumni reuniting on their old stomping grounds was such a sight to see.

You can really see how much they love their alma mater by how many of them come back every year.

5

Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*

The Reginald F. Lewis School of Business as a whole collectively works together to ensure that all of their students are doing what they need to do to secure a career upon graduation.

Mr. Young has CEO’s and owners of big companies come in weekly to provide opportunities to students and I am so grateful for that.

6

How are you positively active on campus? (e.g. clubs, SGA, etc.)

I humbly serve as Miss Sophomore on my University’s Royal Court.
