1

Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*

I am from Indianapolis, Indiana.

My high school counselor, Mr. Henry, took a group of students to an HBCU fair at Martin University and made sure we all applied to each HBCU present.

2

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*

I chose an HBCU over a PWI, because I wanted the opportunity to delve into my history more than a PWI would allow me to do.

Felt Like Home - The campus tours program at Central State University personalizes each tour they give.
They know exactly how to reach each type of person.
When I arrived to the campus, I felt like I never left home. Later that year I joined the campus tour guides.

3

What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*

My HBCU experience is purely described by growth.

While at my HBCU (Central State University), I grew into a woman.

I learned how to take care of my own business, while still having time for fun. CSU taught me the essence of a well-balanced lifestyle.

My HBCU experience couldn’t be traded for all the money in the world. I LOVE MY CSU!

4

"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*

5

Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*

Mr. Kenyal McGee left a major impression on my academic and personal life.

He made me work so hard during his course that I thought it would never end.

All the work he gave was fully relevant to his course, so my hard work resulted in an “A” in his course. To this day, he still communicates with me to make sure that I am staying on track.

6

Best restaurants on/near campus? Best dishes?

My favorite restaurant near campus was BD’s Mongolian grill.
I love having my food prepare in front of me.
They cook the food you give them, so you have total control of the flavor.

7

College crush?

My college crush was actually Aamar Blair. He was my initial freshman rival, and a major support system.

He is currently serving as Mr. Central State University, and I am so proud of him.

8

What is your major? and Why did you choose it?

My major was Business Administration with a concentration in Management.

I chose this major because I have always been a natural leader. I also have a passion for business.
I love to dress in my business attire and feel like I am on top of the world while learning how to make a business successful.

9

Where are the spots to go to if you wanted to cuddle with your boy or girlfriend?

I didn’t really cuddle much outside of my room, but the stadium was my favorite place to go lay and look at the stars.

10

What are the chants heard most often at the sporting events?

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO oooooooooo OOOOOOOOOOOOOO ooooooooooooooo, IT’S MARAUDER LAND ( it’s marauder land) IT’S MARAUDER LAND ( it’s marauder land)
It sounds much better when singing it haha.

11

How are you positively active on campus? (e.g. clubs, SGA, etc.)

I was positively active on my college campus by being an amazing tour guide and recruiter for my university.
Tour guides are constantly in the limelight and are great representations of what our university has to offer.

I was also the Senior Class Vice President and helped the confidence of several women by putting together the Miss Voluptuous Pageant, alongside the wonderful Reachelle Castillo.
In High school I was a senior mentor.
We were awarded the opportunity to help the incoming classes at Ben Davis adjust. We were the role models of the high school.

12

How did you overcome your nervousness about going to college?

I overcame my nervousness of my first year through the support of my Resident Advisor, Aminta Moses, and my Student Ambassador, Kendrick Jones.
The two student leaders broke my silence, kept me as far from my room as possible, and encouraged me to get involved at Central State University.
They were and still are the mentors in my life, as well as two amazing friends.

13

If you could only speak two sentences to the youth coming after you what would you say?

HBCUs embrace you into their family and support you through everything.
It is up to you to figure out what you want from life, but your family will see you through it!
