Khari Griffin, Morehouse College- c/o 2020, Political Science / Pre – Law

Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*
New Castle County, DE
My mom made me apply to at least 2 HBCU’s, I choose Morehouse and Howard.

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
Yes, I was accepted into Temple University in Philadelphia, PA where I was a double Legacy but felt Morehouse College provided the environment I currently needed as a blooming Black man.

What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*
Just the constant rubbing of shoulders with renowned professors and young black men who are beacons of light in their respective communities. Everyday I learn something new about myself as a Black man and leader.
"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*
Walking through campus first time as a freshman and feeling the camaraderie and brotherhood amongst all the brothers, despite differences in class, sexual orientation, and geographical background.
Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*
My freshman history professor, who really emphasized Black history as World history. Though it was not necessarily a Black history class, he made sure he encompassed it into our curriculum. He knew for many of us it was our first time learning the truth of our people.
Are you a member of a fraternity?
Yes, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity
