Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*

Majority of the people I knew went to PWI but when I spoke with some that went to a HBCU, and they told me about their experience.

They talked about how they became student leaders and learned their history. I did research and found out alot of HBCU were found in the 1900’s. HBCU are the conerstone for African Americans.

[How did you decide to become a student at Lincoln University of Missouri?]

I became a student at a HBCU because my brother and sister went to an University close to my home but they dropped out. So I decided to go to a school that was further away from home.

I witnessed them and others I knew from High School coming back every weekend. I felt as if they were not getting the college experience because they were less than a hour away and always wanted to come home.

3

What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*

HBCU they told me about their experience and instill important information in about why Lincoln came about in 1866 by the 62nd and 65th Colored Infantry Soldiers. Lincoln was founded by these war veterans who took there last to help African American get a quality education. I feel as if I could benefit from going to a HBCU.

I feel my experience is part of what Learned. I learned how to dress for success and how to be professional. I learned how manage my time and be more responsible. Lincoln taught me how to hold a meeting and what Roberts Rule of ORDER WAS. I learned how to network and present myself to others in a respectful manner.

4

"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*

First love, First time spending the night with someone. First time being giving a speech.

5

Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*

Its a lot of people who has impacted my life and career while attending Lincoln. I thank my advisor Terry Moore and Professor Mathews for teaching and aiding me to learn all that I could before entering the real world.

They both provided me with quality information about the Criminal Justice System. They still to this day allow me to use them as references. They helped me stay focused and taught me to not give up on my dreams because of others, not even family.
