1

Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*

I am a native of Little Rock, AR. I was introduced to HBCU's by my father. He was a big fan of HBCU football. We would go to homecoming and different classic games, tailgate and see the bands at halftime.

2

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*

I chose an HBCU over a PWI as a result of being raised around the HBCU culture. I believe in black excellence. To have the opportunity to go to school around other young African-Americans that are trying to succeed was definitely a good thing. My college choices were UAPB, Jackson St. and Clark-Atlanta.

3

What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*

My experience at UAPB was great. I was a "legacy" student. My mom and other relatives attended there. Golden Lion pride was always a part of me. The campus life, the Greeks on the yard and its strong alumni network. I learned a lot and was blessed to meet many great people.

4

"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*

There are too many first-times to talk about (laughs). First party. First Wednesday at noon in the student union. First time moving on campus in the dorm. My worst first time experience was having a music theory class Saturday morning at 10:00AM. That was a first and last.

5

Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*

The instructors and professors that impacted me the most was my family Dr. Chaney (math) and Dr. Brantley (English). Both were serious about learning but were some of the coolest teachers on campus. They taught me most how to balance work and fun and not be so serious. Especially homecoming week!
