Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*
I’m from Tappahannock, Va. And the person who introduced me to HBCUs would be my mom. Growing up she always talked to us about them and always wanted us to go to one.

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
I actually went to a pwi my freshman year of college. I went there to play football. After about a month I realized that a pwi wasn’t for me and that I wanted to be around more people who looked like me. I also wanted to learn more about my culture. That’s how I knew I wanted to go to an HBCU.
What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*
My experience at Norfolk State University has been amazing. Being here has opened up so many doors and opportunities that I wouldn’t probably have at any other school. I’ve learned so much about my culture and I'm still learning about it. I’ve been able to enjoy so many different experiences here at Norfolk State. They are not only giving me a great education but they are shaping me to have a great future.
"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*
My first time experience at my HBCU that I will never forget would be my first homecoming. I had never seen so many students, alumni, family, and friends at one place enjoying themselves like they did. All of the events from the concerts to the football game was lit. And I can’t wait till my next homecoming. #NYTHC

Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*
Dr. Holmes is the first professor to come to mind. She always pushes not only me but everyone to do and be their best. She’s always willing to help if we need it, but also there to push us and make us work for our future.
How are you positively active on campus? (e.g. clubs, SGA, etc.)
I am a member of the W.E.B. Du Bois Sociology Club.
