Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*
I am from Los Angeles, CA. I first heard of HBCU’s in middle school. It was then that I started to take a closer look at HBCU’s for myself. Every time I saw something or heard testimonials about HBCU’s my interest was heightened.

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
My history is there. By that I mean the men and women who have paved the way in the world for me to be successful walked the same halls I was walking down when i went to visit. They sat in the seats that I now sat in waiting for my tour of the school and most of all, they looked like me.

Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*
There was one professor above them all that I will never forget. Professor Braithwaite was my advanced creative writing instructor, He almost never gave a compliment, he’d look you dead in the face and say “you think you can write, just because your mommy and auntie said so?
No! that does NOT make you a writer! (lol) he pushed you as far as you thought you could go, then he’d push a little harder, and you would discover that there was more to you, creatively, grammatically, descriptively, than you initially thought.
