Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*
I am from Chestnut Hill Pa. My track coach introduced me to HBCU LIfe, and all is well.

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
Smaller. My major is small so more one on one. Scholarships on athletics music were very helpful, it’s like a family.
[How did you decide to become a student at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania?]
After meeting some folks in my major and talking with the track coach.
What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*
Well I came to college in fall 2011. Since then I have been featured in the 2012 magazine and I am currently on the cover of the 2013 fall magazine, as well as an article being written on me in the magazine. I have broken numerous track and field records.
I have had master classes with some awesome famous and well respected pianist such as Awadagin Pratt.
A member if groove phi groove social fellowship inc. have ran a town relays. Sing in the concert choir bass2 have traveled on tour from Ohio down to ncarolina to Tennesee to virginia to jersey Delaware Maryland California. My experience thus far has been GREAT.
"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*
I got my first A freshmen yr in English physical science and math. First road trip was with the concert choir.
Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*
Toni Caldwell Hall.
She has taught me how to read music, make music and understand how to feel music. She is a wonderful pianist and soo peaceful that the angriest man with the most hatred would shed a tear. That’s why shes the best.

I enjoy Chipotle and Bretuccis they have an awesome salmon and potatoes with broccoli n lemonade lol
College crush?
A girl name Bria Gardner was my only crush . She graduated.

What is your major? and Why did you choose it?
Major is music ed with a minor in piano performance. I chose it because music is personal to me. It’s my peace
What to date has been your proudest moment @ Your HBCU?
My proudest moment at Cheyney was when I received the Excellence I Music award last semester
Where are the spots to go to if you wanted to cuddle with your boy or girlfriend?
The main lobby in the new residence hall or in your own room.
What are the chants heard most often at the sporting events?

How are you positively active on campus? (e.g. clubs, SGA, etc.)
Well I’m a groove piano tutor concert choir track team peer mentor former pianist for the gospel choir, deans list cups which is out poetry club and all athletics announcer

What is your process when you are going through a hardship that you have never faced before?
Pray evaluate n prioritize things.
How did you overcome your nervousness about going to college?
I wasn’t nervous
Are you a member of a fraternity?
I’m a groove.
[Why did you pledge to be a “Groove”?]
Because it’s social not a frat. I don’t believe in hazing like some of the Devine 9 do and because I read about it and chose to go the only way, the groove way
What was your saddest moment in your life to date?
When my aunt passed.
How did your HBCU prepare you for a diverse workplace?
By showing students how to compete, interact, and be open with people of different mind sets and skin color.
What advice would you give high school students filling out college applications for the first time?
Keep options open and always go with your decisions and no one else’s. Go to where you have your intended major and 2 back ups you would change to if needed.
Describe a situation from your life where this proverb came to life or occurred “The person who grew up without correction will find his mouth slipping instead of his foot.”

Cheyney University has one of the most storied basketball programs in NCAA Division II history. The men's basketball program is 7th all-time in NCAA win percentage, including 16 PSAC conference championships, four Final Fours, and one National Championship (1978). The women's basketball team in 1982 competed in the championship game of the inaugural NCAA Division I tournament despite being a Division II school.
