Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*

I’m from Jackson, MS, born and raised. Being from Jackson, I always believed in going to the “home” school. That home school was none other than Jackson State University, THEEILOVE!

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*

I chose an HBCU over a pwi because I wanted that HBCU experience that you can’t get from anywhere else BUT an HBCU.

It’s a different vibe as well as different world. There’s a constant debate between the HBCU experience and a pwi experience, but at the end of the day, we know it’s different on our end and that’s just what it is.

What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*

Before attending JSU, I attended and graduated from Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS.

So coming into a 4 year, I wasn’t sure what to expect, I just knew it was going to be lit. Because Jackson state is THEE HBCU of the south. Overall my experience was great and I enjoyed every minute of it.

From everything to the classroom to the events, to the organizations, up to graduation, it was a whole vibe that I’m forever grateful for.

4

"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*

My first time experiences included things like Greek weeks, organization weeks, HBCU rivalries, and more! A whole lituation.

5

Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*

All of my professors were very helpful throughout my tenure at JSU and were all helpful with my experience as a whole.

They gave great advice, great information, and are people that I can always call on if I ever need help, references, or whatever. They were definitely a big help in my whole HBCU experience.
