Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*
I am a native of Decatur, Ga. I was introduced to HBCU’S by my parents and to Paine college by my High School administrator.

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
I chose an HBCU for the rich history they hold. I was very interested in the feel that HBCU's could bring to my overall College experience. I especially was attracted to and made the decision to attend Paine College because of they're medium size campus and it's friendly environment. Not only did I feel very relaxed, they also had very comfortable classroom settings.
What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*
The experience of my HBCU is that Paine is what you make it! Once I graduated from Southwest Dekalb High School in 2011. I had a full understanding that Paine College took a chance on me that no other institution would. I was a great student but not a good test taker.
However, this institution took a chance on me and granted me admission into their school. Once on the campus, I tried to make the BEST out of that given chance. I immediately got involved as a freshman, I even felt so welcomed that I ran for Various positions my sophomore year and even entered into a pageant. Then options were limitless!!
Once my senior year rolled around I was afforded the opportunity to do social media marketing for Infiniti of Augusta through my major and become Miss Homecoming. It was the HBCU experience one could have always imagined. Upon graduating from Paine College in 2015 I attended graduate school and was again afforded an amazing opportunity. I then accepted the position as the first Regional Recruiter for Paine College. And it all started from attending this lovely HBCU.
"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*
One HBCU experience i will never forget was walking into the campus chapel my very first day! As I entered I watched about 30 hyperactive students shout various PC chants! They then welcomed students and our parents to take a seat. They shouted HAPPY MOVE IN DAY! They stated that as new Lions you should learn the chants. Their energy was so infectious that it made all us students get up get hype and join in! At that moment I knew I would love Paine College.

Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*
Ms. Nicole Watson impacted me during my tenure. Although she only taught at Paine for two years those were the BEST two years with her. She brought several Media Influencers to speak to our class both in person and virtually. She challenged me academically and pushed me to my limits. She introduced me to social media marketing with Infiniti of Augusta, as well as the opportunity to write sports press releases and conduct both pre and post-game interviews. I thank Professor Watson for ALL of her insight!
What to date has been your proudest moment @ Your HBCU?
My proudest HBCU moment was on move-in day for the class of 2018. That was the first time a fellow Alumna Ashley M. Garrett and I created ”Alumni Passes It Down”. This was an initiative we started to get both older and younger Alumni to give back in a creative way.
We challenged all alumni to donate all types of dorm items to the incoming freshman as a welcome to the family gift. We were able to make sure over 75 incoming freshmen received laundry detergent, hangers, pillows, surge protectors, televisions and much more! That moment really warmed my heart to see one of my visions come to pass and we are excited to host it again this summer!
