Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*
I am from Schlater, MS. I was introduced to HBCUs by my high school teachers and counselors.

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
I chose an HBCU (Valley) because of its rich heritage. I received a partial scholarship and it was close to my home.
What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*
I loved going to Valley, I met my best friends there over 36 years ago. There was a group of us there between 1982-1988..to this day we are still close. We formed an unbreakable bond.
"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*
I had never been to a Greek show before...I was in awe...I also had to be a big girl...going to class and doing homework without being made to do it..
Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*
Dr. Kim and Dr. Ahuja...They made sure you had it or you didn't pass...
Best restaurants on/near campus? Best dishes?
The Cap/Caf..Cafeteria...The fish on Friday and the fried chicken on Sunday was the bomb...
Where is the “yard” located?
The yard is in Itta Bena, MS....When I was there the plaza was the place to be...
What was your happiest moment in your life to date?
If I could go back in time, I would go back to Valley for a week maybe longer..LOL...Another thing is..our Homecomings ROCK!!!.
What do you feel is most beautiful about you?
My smile, hair and personality...
What's your take on life (in the philosophical sense)?
Love yourself....
How did you overcome your nervousness about going to college?
When I first came to Valley in 1982, I was really scared until I met my best friends Jackie and Katie...to this day we are still friends.
