Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*
I am a Queens, New York native and my mother introduced me to HBCUs since she is a Hampton University alumna.

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
I chose an HBCU over a PWI because I loved the family feel of the university and the way they wanted to see me succeed as much as I did.

What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*
My experience at Hampton University is one that I think could never compare to another school.
From my first step on campus, they’ve taught me valuable lessons like how to be confidently independent , that if you’re uncomfortable that means you’re growing, and how to truly be the standard of excellence.
"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*
Being at Hampton for the first time on my own was during Pre-College and I was both very nervous and excited.
I was nervous about meeting my first roommate, living in a dorm, and the classes but I was so excited just to be there. It was also culture shock because I was coming from New York to Virginia and there were other students from all over the United States and internationally.
Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*
My Oral Communications Prof.Middleton, Theater Prof. Kamora Avent, and Creative Writing Assistant Prof. Randolph Walker.
These professors have made taking their classes an enjoyable yet insightful one. They taught me how captivate a room full of people, how to be more confident, and how to express myself. They saw the potential I had and helped me shape into something greater.
How did you overcome your nervousness about going to college?
I overcame my nervousness by going out and socializing with people in my dorm and around campus. I also joined some clubs and organizations.
