2

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*

I'm an undersized basketball player and Bowie took a chance on an underdog. I wanted to keep playing basketball. I had several academic scholarships but they weren't going to let me play ball.

What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*

In 2003 our basketball team made history. We were the first men's basketball Team to win a CIAA championship and go on to lose in the Division 2 final four.

We had the Coach of the year, highest team G.P.A. in CIAA, All-American, Academic All-American which was me and we finished 31-4 and number 1 ranked in all of Black College basketball Div 1, 2, 3. We had 11 players to play professional basketball. I'm 38 years old and still play professional basketball for the World Famous Harlem Wizards the second oldest entertainment team behind the globetrotters.

"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*

I attended the Bowie State vs Virginia Union game in 1999. I was in awe of the talent.

5

Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*

Dr. Fardan, Dr. Green and Dr. Ingram they believed in me and showed me how to study and seek knowledge. They also taught me how to be a leader on campus.

What adversities (hardships) have you overcome to become the strong person that you are?

My Dad, and oldest daughter are cancer survivors. I had to be the strong one for my family. I had to lean on God and be the positive person uplifting everyone. You can't get to the rainbow without the storm. They are both cancer free now.
