Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*
I am from Shreveport, Louisiana. I was intrigued in HBCUs from my church family. Either a member was from Grambling or Southern & I chose Southern because it stuck to my mind.

Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
I decided to go with an HBCU rather than a PWI because it is IMPORTANT that we as AFRICAN AMERICANS to save our heritage and culture. We will not receive this type of treatment or culture from a PWI.

What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*
My experience at Southern has been great! The instructors are caring, the atmosphere feels like a "huge family cookout", and the neighborhood restaurants really have a soul food taste I love so much.
"First time" experiences at your HBCU?*
My "first time" experience at Southern was when I was lost on registration day and I did not know where I was on campus. Well a young lady saw me looking lost & she helped me to my destination and also made sure I had all the requirements completed correctly. I loved that so much.
Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*
All my professors have impacted my life inside and out and it's too much to say.
